Are you old enough to recall washing your car the old fashioned way? First, if it was a hot summer day you would need to park under a shady tree. Otherwise, the soap would dry on the car too quickly and cause streaks. Next, you would drag out the hose, bucket, rags, brushes, etc. and apply old fashioned elbow grease. Ah, yes, those were the good old days. How about now-a-days?
There are many benefits to be found at the local automated car wash. Follow me, as my car gets spiffed up.
One benefit of the modern car wash is the large vacuums scattered around, outside. I slip a few coins in the appropriate slots for five minutes vacuuming time. Oh, you say your car needs a little sprucing, too. Just be sure to pick up coins or other things you don’t want to lose. The suction from these machines is powerful. I once almost got my t-shirt sucked off!
Okay, next, we have to decide if we want to go through the “do it yourself” bay, where after putting your coins in you spray your own car, first with a soapy solution, and then clear water to rinse. Or shall we choose full service.
Full service, you say. Why not? But this is more costly. We have three choices, and I select the maximum wash. This time the cost is in the form of bills, but from experience I know I will get a superior wash.
I make sure the windows are tightly closed, pull into the bay, sit back and relax. A few years ago, water and soap would spray from a nozzle and automatic brushes would rotate all over the car. But this could be very damaging to paint. Modern methods use a much safer alternative. Powerful spraying machines pass over and under the car, alternating between a soapy solution and clear rinse water, to a colorful, sweet smelling splattering of shiny coating. Then we move forward under the jet-dry, one full minute of blasting air that leaves the car spot free.
All finished. Don’t you agree the benefits of the modern car wash save time and energy, as well as doing an excellent job? And we didn’t even have to change our clothing, nor are we tired, sweaty or soaked from the job. And my, don’t you look fine in your shiny, clean car. |
