Smart cars are Minicars and the company that makes them is based in Germany.  The Smart Company is a part of the DaimlerChrysler Corporation.  What makes the smart car so great?  With gas prices what they are today, smart cars have a better than average fuel efficiency with an average of 40 miles per gallon.  The European version gets 60 miles to the gallon.  It can also reach speeds of up to 85 miles per hour.

This little car is only 8 feet long and you could park two of them in a standard size parking space, one behind the other.  If you parked them sideways, you could fit three in the space.  The three-cylinder, 698-cc engine is located in the back of the car.  From the front bumper to the back tires you will find nothing but living space.  This tiny car may look small, but the inside is big.  It has revolutionized the way cars are made.
